Some Common Carpentry Power Tools

One of the most common carpentry power tools is undoubtedly the circular saw or also known as a skil saw. I would venture to say every good carpenter out there has one or even several. There are several variations of this type of saw as well as sizes, levels of quality and durability . One variation is the worm drive style which is mostly used in the framing industry and is more powerful and durable then the more common type circular saw. There are many different manufactures that make circular saws as well as levels of quality and price so it is a good idea to do some research before buying one. I have and have used many of the different brands and models and one model I use and have had really good luck with is the Makita. A good durable and affordable saw that is priced right around $100.00 give or take a little.

Cordless Power Tools

Other popular carpentry power tools that most carpenters have are the cordless combo kits. These kits can vary as to what you want for cordless tools in the kits and the number of tools per kit. The cordless screw gun is in almost every kit and some of the choices you have for other cordless tools in your kit may be a sawzall or reciprocating saw, a cordless skil or circular saw, a heavy duty flash light, a cordless jig saw, a cordless side grinder or cut-off tool, a cordless impact driver and a few others. These kits also include some sort of carrying case or bag and of course come with the charger and batteries for these tools. One thing to consider is the power level you want or need. You would not need a 24 volt heavy duty screw gun to keep and use around the house, one reason for this is because of the shear weight of a big powerful screw gun so think about how or what you will be using these tools for.As with all tools there are a wide variety of brands and choices when buying these kits. The levels of quality are also a factor so do your research before running out and buying one.

Research Your Tools

When buying any carpentry power tools it is always a good idea to do some research. Professional quality carpentry power tools will last five to ten times longer than cheap, generic tools. When buying high end carpentry tools it is important to do your research into the various brands, what they cost, and what they are designed to do. Some tools appear the same, but they might differ in weight and the power they put out. A lighter tool may help you stay at a job longer and more power may help you get the job done better. Heavy tools may make you feel like you have just jogged for ten miles. Quality carpentry tools will make up for haste in doing a job. A good place to read reviews on tools is amazon.com or ebay. They have good reviews to give you the information you are looking for on most of the tools out there.
